Remember Miley Cyrus’ birthday bash at Disneyland last year?  Well this year the singer decided to keep her 17th birthday more low-key.  Her birthday is today, actually, but Miley celebrated her big day on November 18, 2009 in New York at the Canal Room with family and friends.

The Party in the USA siner “had an ’80s theme, complete with a performance by the cast of the Broadway musical ‘Rock of Ages.’ The whole thing was a surprise,” a source told People.

Even Miley’s cake fit the party theme, designed by ‘Cake Boss’ Buddy Valastro.  “They didn’t want a girly-girl cake. The vanilla cake was inspired by Madonna’s penchant for wearing lace in the ’80s and was accented in Cyrus’ favorite color, purple. It totally fit the theme. It was really awesome,” Buddy said.

This is the second 80s themed party for Miss Miley.  She had another 80’s bash when she turned 15 as well. “She loves the ’80s,” her mother, Tish, told People. “The fashion, the big hair — she thinks it’s so funky.”

Pretty weird for a girl born in 1992.  But yes, the 80s rocked.

Miley Cyrus’ tour bus driver dies in accident

Tragedy struck in Virginia on Friday when one of Miley Cyrus’ tour buses overturned, killing the bus driver, Bill ‘Uncle Bill’ Douglas.  The accident occurred while the four-vehicle caravan was heading to Greensboro, North Carolina where Miley is performing on Sunday.

But don’t worry, Miley was not traveling with the caravan; instead, she hopped on a plane to Nashville for some down time before the concert in NC.  She released a statement on her website:

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Bill ‘Uncle Bill’ Douglas. Members of our tour are like members of our family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family in the midst of this tragedy. He will truly be missed.”

Bill Douglas died at the scene, just outside Richmond, while the nine members of Miley’s lighting team escaped through the broken front windshield. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Rapper Jay-Z doesn’t have time to worry about Miley Cyrus not listening to his music; the performer is spending all his time trying to make a baby with Beyonce.

Jay-Z is on the December 2009 cover of Gotham mag, and here’s a few snippets of his interview:

“Making music is art… It doesn’t change who you are as a person. It doesn’t mean you’re entitled or you’re above the law. You still treat people as human beings. It doesn’t change the laws of the universe. Life has a balance and for every action there is a reaction. So if you put negative energy in, negative energy comes back to you. You have to live your life within the laws of the universe and I haven’t lost sight of that. You have to be close with your foundation and the people who know you best because they’ve known you for so long that they can see the changes in you,…Fame is such a deadly drug that you can’t see the changes because you are so consumed by it. You need a close-knit group of friends and family to make sure you stay grounded.”

During the interview Jay-Z let it slip that he and Beyonce are focusing all their efforts on creating a baby together.  And this is big news from such a secretive couple!!  The two got married secretly got married last year and even though they are very happy, they rarely wear their rings out in public.

Alright, let’s start taking bets!!  How soon before we hear about Beyonce being pregnant?

Miley Cyrus never listened to Jay-Z, despite ‘Party in the USA’ song lyrics

Pop singer Miley Cyrus just proved how dumb she actually is during a pre-Halloween bash interview. Honestly, I thought higher of her than this…check it out.

In Miley’s song ‘Party in the USA’ she repeatedly sings “and the Jay-Z song was on!” so during the interview she was asked which song it was.  Her response?

“I’ve never heard a Jay-Z song. I don’t listen to pop music.”

Whaaat?!!  Pop music?  K, hold on.  Jay-Z doesn’t sing, compose, or produce pop music.  MILEY CYRUS sings pop music.  Doesn’t she know the difference?  Or does she just get up on stage and dance on the pole, not paying attention to the music playing? Good Lord.

When asked about how and why it was put in the song she replies:

“I don’t know, I didn’t write the song, so I have no idea. Honestly, I picked that song because I needed something to go with my clothing line. I didn’t write it and … I didn’t expect it to be popular, originally. It was just something that I wanted to do, and I needed some songs and it turned out for the best.  I’m really blessed for it to have done as well as it has. Totally blessed. God has definitely put me in an amazing position with amazing people.”

It’s so frustrating listening to this interview.  And, to top it off, she’s in her Pocahontas costume. How can you take a dumb, 16-year-old white girl dressed up as the amazing Pocahontas seriously? She’s bringing shame to the name.

The First Lady and her two daughters stayed up late Tuesday night to attend popstar Miley Cyrus’ concert in Washington D.C.

But this isn’t the first concert Michelle attended with her girls, Sasha and Malia Obama.  Earlier this summer the ladies of the Whitehouse went to see Beyonce and they also met tween stars the Jonas Brothers during a scavenger hunt the night they moved into the White House.

Remember how pop singer Miley Cyrus was voted the Worst Celebrity Influence for 2009?  Well here’s one more item to add to her list!!  The 16-year-old star performed in Louisville, KY on Halloween, and then put on an after party performance at a local bar, the Phoenix Hill Tavern, late that night.

Miley was dressed as a Native American while she belted out the words to ‘I Love Rock n Roll.’
