Michael Jackson ‘This Is It’ pushed to January 2010

So much for buying Michael Jackson’s ‘This Is It’ DVD for Christmas this year!!

Sony announced that the home video release date has been pushed back to January 26, 2010 because they felt releasing to DVD so soon would cut into ticket sales at the theater. Wait…wasn’t the film only supposed to be in theaters for two weeks?  But it was extended after sold out shows…so what’s Sony trying to pull, another publicity stunt?

So far ‘This Is It’ has grossed more than $200 million worldwide…but apparently that’s not enough…money grubbing Sony execs.  Pfh.

OMG!!

Sammy Sosa says cream made his skin white

Michael Jackson??  Nope.  Former MLB baseball player Sammy Sosa says that a cream he’s using has made his skin white.  The former star has undergone a skin rejuvenation process after years of playing baseball in the sun and now he skin appears much lighter, similar to King of Pop Michael Jackson.

“I use a cream to keep my skin smooth and soft. I apply it before I go to bed. When I was playing for Chicago all those years, I was in the sun a lot for 1 o’clock games. The flashes (from the cameras) also made my skin look lighter. I’m surprised with the controversy this has caused,” Sammy said during an interview.

When asked about mirroring his own image to MJ he replied, “Not at all, I respect him very much. I’m not a racist. I’m not like that. I’m just a happy person.”

That’s kind of a weird comment, right?  ‘I’m not racist…I’m just a happy person.’

What do you think of Sammy’s transformation??

Elizabeth Taylor talks about ‘This Is it’

The iconic Elizabeth Taylor talks about Michael Jackson’s ‘This Is It’ concert movie documentary that premieres worldwide tonight, Tuesday, October 27, 2009.

In a private screening last week, the 77-year-old actress said that the documentary is “the single most brilliant piece of filmmaking” she has ever seen.

She took to Twitter to reveal her feelings about the film and a few of her Tweets on Monday were:

  • “wept from pure joy at his God-given gift” and was “honored with the great privilege” to see the film
  • “It cements forever Michael’s genius in every aspect of creativity…To say the man is a genius is an understatement. He cradles each note, coaxes the music to depths beyond reality… There will never, ever be the likes of him again. And we have this piece of film to remind us forever and ever that once there was such a man.”
  • “You owe it to yourselves and your loved ones to see this again and again. Memorize it and say to yourselves, ‘I saw genius in my lifetime.’ I loved genius in my lifetime.”
  • “Mr. Ortega [Director Kenny Ortega] catches Michael in his every mood,” she posted. “You see in front of your eyes Michael’s genius blossoming on this piece of film thanks to Kenny Ortega and his crews. I truly believe this film should be nominated in every category conceivable.”

The documentary-style film is based on the rehearsal footage shot of the King of Pop while he was preparing for this comeback concert series in London, ‘This Is It.’

Michael Jackson tribute concert postponed

The tribute concert planned for the King of Pop has been postponed until June 2010 and the venue will now be in London.  Michael Jackson‘s brother Jermaine announced that a plethora of talented artists, including Natalie Cole, Chis Brown, and Mary J. Blige, to name a few, would be performing at the Vienna concert.

Well I guess you can’t have much of a concert without performers, right?

There were “scheduling conflicts” with many of the top performers that were promoted for the event, hence the date change.

Jermaine Jackson put together an explanation of the postponed tribute, saying, “Instead of eight weeks we now have eight months to prepare and some of the stars who would not have been able to participate in the Vienna concert, but expressed their wish to participate in this event, will be able to perform live on stage at the renowned Wembley Stadium in London in June 2010.”

Am I the only one sick of hearing Jermaine talk and reap 15 minutes of fame off his brother’s death??
