Ellen DeGeneres joins American Idol judges

Emmy Award winner and comedian Ellen DeGeneres is the newest judge on Fox’s hit TV show American Idol.  Yay!!!!  The show will return to television in January 2010; that’s when Ellen will joing the other three judges, Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and Kara DioGuardi and host Ryan Seacrest.

We are super excited to see Ellen join American Idol…she will be able to add a fun, light-hearted element to the show, which it is lacking.  She currently hosts her own talk show called The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Pain meds led Melanie Griffith to rehab

Antonio Banderas, husband and fellow actor with Melanie Griffith, speaks out about Melanie’s recent admission rehab for pain meds on The Ellen DeGeneres Show saying, “It’s not a rumor, but let me explain to you…Melanie has been addicted for many years and we always came out. We said it out loud.”

Melanie was clean for six years, but then an unfortunate skiing accident in Aspen caused the actress to start using narcotics again.  Antonio claimed, “In March, she came to me and said, ‘I’m feeling a little bit weak in my determination for this…so I just thought to go to rehabilitation by myself.’ ”

Regarding his thoughts on therapy and overcoming addition, Antonio is proud of his wife saying, “There are a number of invisible heroes working in AA all around the world. I just say to families, ‘Don’t get embarrassed, just confront this problem head-on. And don’t hide from that because there is a beautiful gift at the end of this tunnel, and it is the person that you love back, and that is what I am searching for’ “…I am very proud of my wife.”

We are proud of Melanie for actively volunteering to go to rehab.  It will never cease to amaze me how easy prescription meds are for celebrities and how many of them become addicted.  Keep up the hard work Mel…we are all cheering for you!!
