Michael Jackson tribute concert lineup

A tribute concert for the King of Pop Michael Jackson is scheduled for September 26, 2009 at the Schönbrunn palace in Vienna, Austria.

The lineup for the tribute has been confirmed by MJ’s brother, Jermaine Jackson, as Mary J Blige, Sister Sledge, Natalie Cole, and Chris Brown; the performers will cover Michael’s greatest hits as the main tribute. Others scheduled to make an appearance are Angela Bassett, German boy-band US5, and Akon.

In a promotional video Jermaine stated, “Michael would have loved this event because he was fascinated by castles and palaces – their elegance, history and legends.”  He continued saying the evening will be a “very special tribute to Michael’s unforgettable music, as well as shedding light on this wonderful humanitarian.”
The Jackson family and an estimated 65,000 fans will be attending the tribute in Austria while approximately one billion people worldwide watching the televised broadcast.

Chris Brown does not like Oprah

Singer Chris Brown is messing with the wrong woman!  The Oprah Show had an episode regarding domestic violence, dedicating it “to all the Rihannas of the world” and say that “love doesn’t hurt. And if a man hits you once, he will hit you again. He will hit you again. I don’t care what his plea is.”

Chris Brown agreed that domestic violence is a problem, but felt Oprah targeted him, telling People magazine, “I commend Oprah on being like, ‘This is a problem,’ but it was a slap in my face.  I did a lot of stuff for her, like going to Africa and performing for her school. She could have been more helpful, like, ‘OK, I’m going to help both of these people out.’”

Of course Lady O isn’t going to just sit there and take it.  A rep for the media mogul told E! News, “Oprah is very appreciative that Chris Brown performed at her school, but she takes domestic abuse very seriously. She hopes he gets the counseling he needs.”

What a mess. Everybody has an opinion about the Chris Brown-Rihanna situation.  What’s yours?

Chris Brown mad at Larry King, releases statement

Continuing to dig himself into a hole, the baby-blue-bowtie-wearing girlfriend beater (and singer) Chris Brown felt he needed to explain his memory loss of brutally assaulting ex-girlfriend Rihanna last February.  He just released the following statement:

“There have been reports on the Internet that I didn’t remember what happened that night with Rihanna. I want to try and set things straight.

That 30 seconds of the interview they used of me was taken from a one hour interview during which that same question was asked something like 4 or 5 times — and when you look at the entire interview you will see it is not representative of what I said.

The first four times – or how ever many times it was – I gave the same answer — which was that I didn’t think it was appropriate for me to talk about what happened that night. I said it was not right for me and it really wasn’t fair to Rihanna. The fifth time – or whatever it was – I just misspoke. I was asked, “Do you remember doing it?” and I said, “No.”

Of course I remember what happened. Several times during the interview, my mother said that I came to her right afterwards and told her everything. But it was and still is a blur. And yes, I still can’t believe it happened because it is not me or who I am or is what happened like anything I have ever done before.

As I have said several times previously, I am ashamed of and sorry for what happened that night and I wish I could relive that moment and change things, but I can’t. I take full responsibility for my actions. What I have to do now is to prove to the world that this was an isolated incident and that is not who I am and I intend to do so by my behavior now and in the future.”

Yadda yadda yadda…who are you trying to convince?  You, or us??  Keep digging mama’s boy.  Keep digging.

Joyce Hawkins speaks out in support of son Chris Brown

Singer Chris Brown’s mom, Joyce Hawkins, wanted to speak out to her son’s fans and thank them for their support.  On his fan website, Mom writes:

“I just want to say from the bottom of my heart thank you for your continued support. I’m sorry I wasn’t allowed to speak to anyone as this case was ongoing. I can now say this has been the most painful moment in my entire life, but knowing that you were still standing by Chris’ side in his time of need made this a little easier for us.

Because of all your prayers, God brought him through. I just want to say God has never failed me and never will. All moms and dads please stand by your children and pray for their goodness each and every day.

I made a promise, I would never be ashamed of him no matter where I am or who I talk to. You see this whole thing isn’t about Chris, it’s about God. He wants to show all of you the goodness of him through Chris. Chris will be addressing all of his fans very soon. We love you so much and so does God.”

We praise Joyce for standing behind her son, Lord knows most of his fans don’t anymore.  It’s too bad…Chris is such a talented artist, both singer and performer.  Everyone deserves forgiveness…but we were thinking more along the lines of the punishment fitting the crime.  Paryting at Guys and Dolls the night after your probation sentencing hardly shows remorse.  We just wish he was able to control his anger, or whatever it was that led him to brutally assaulting our precious Rihanna.

Whose side are you on?

Chris Brown breaks probation rules at club, Guys and Dolls

Singer Chris Brown was formally sentenced this week for brutally assaulting ex-girlfriend and singer, Rihanna in February 2009.  To celebrate his sentencing, which was a slap on the wrist of five years probation and community service, Chris took to the streets of West Hollywood and partied at the club Guys and Dolls.

Where do we begin?  First of all, the 20-year-old singer broke the rules of his probation; he was too young to be in a club.  Although his entourage ordered 10 bottles of champagne, Chris stuck to water.  But he would have only been allowed to stay in the club if he was hired as a performer, since U.S. drinking age limits prohibit anyone under the age of 21 to enter nightclubs and bars in America.

Does this count as a performance? When Michael Jackson’s song ‘Dirty Diana’ was played, the singer took the microphone saying, “There was only one King of Pop. We love you, Michael.”

Los Angeles Probation Department rep Kari Webb spoke to E! News, “It (breaking probation) won’t be taken lightly. If you break the law, you’re in trouble.”

Chris Brown has some nerve going out to party after sliding under the radar for beating Rihanna within an inch of her life and getting away with it.  We think the LAPD and court should throw the book at him!!  In Chris’ “remorseful apology video” that he released, he was wearing orange…the color suits him well.  We’d like to see more of it.

Chris Brown interview with Larry King

Pop/R&B singer Chris Brown appeared on Larry King Live Wednesday at the Hollywood offices for CNN.  This was his first interview since his assault arrest on ex-girlfriend and fellow singer, Rihanna on February 8, 2009.

Although Chris has apologized to Rihanna several times and released a video online, a source says that answered all questions Larry threw at him, no matter their difficulty or sensitivity.  The interview will air next week on Larry King Live.

In a previous post, the singer was sentenced yesterday with five years’ probation, counseling, and community service.  Chris plans to complete out his sentence in his home town, Virginia.

That isn’t even a slap on the wrist!!  Why do celebrities always get special treatment?!  Do you think Chris’ sentence was fair or too lenient?
