Boxing legend Mike Tyson has said he doesn’t want to know the details about the death of his 4-year-old daughter, Exodus.
In an interview with Oprah, set to air on Monday October 12, 2009, Mike talked about not wanting to know “because if I know, then there might be a blame for it. And if there’s somebody to blame for it, there will be a problem.”
The death of Exodus was the “darkest moment” in his life and even though Mike is notorious for his bad temper, he has relied on his family to help him from reacting with anger to his daughter’s tragic accident saying, “I was so happy that I had the tools in life, you know, to not go in that direction because I’ve been that direction. My family – that’s my biggest asset.”
Mike refers to Exodus as “a little angel” and when Oprah says that she believes that’s exactly what his daughter has become he replies, “I don’t know, Oprah. I’d like to believe that, and that sounds great.”
Exodus was found unconscious by Miguel, her 7-year-old brother. She was tangled in a cord that was dangling from a treadmill and died soon after.
My heart goes out to the Tyson family…no one should ever have to bury a child. How awful. I’m glad he’s on the road to recovery and able to openly speak about the tragic accident.
