Award-winning actor Matt Damon is being honored with a lifetime achievement award, also known as the American Cinematheque Award. This annual award honors “an extraordinary artist in the entertainment industry who is fully engaged in his or her work and is committed to making a significant contribution to the art of the motion pictures.”
The photo above shows Matt Damon with friend and fellow actor Ben Affleck; Matt’s career was launched following the success of the film Good Will Hunting, which he co-wrote with Ben Affleck. This started the award nominating and winning streak for the actor, who won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and the Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay for the movie Good Will Hunting.
Matt will accept the award on ABC, but the show won’t air until March 2010. This is his first lifetime achievement award; the actor is only 38 years old. Below are some of the American Cinematheque Award recipients from years past.
