Lady Gaga changing the Grammy Award rules

She’s changing the world one step at a time folks!!  Lady Gaga is changing the Grammy Award rules…but how?

The pop star has sold more than 1.5 million copies of her debut album The Fame, but is not eligible for the ‘Best New Artist’ category at the 2009 Grammy Awards because of her nomination for her hit single ‘Just Dance’ in the Best Dance Recording Category in 2008.

This isn’t the first time a singer has been snubbed from a nomination for this reason.  Last year, former American Idol and Dreamgirls star Jennifer Hudson was ineligible from the same category because of her nominations for the Outstanding Motion Picture Soundtrack Compilation for Dreamgirls.

Well the issue is finally being addressed and Grammy President Neil Portnow stated:

“This particular issue in the Best New Artist category is on our radar and I would expect changes to address it in next year’s voting.”

Way to go Gaga!!
