Universal Orlando Resort is opening up a ‘Wizarding World of Harry Potter‘ theme park in spring 2010!!
You read it right folks…all you Harry Potter fans out there, it’s time to geek out!
The park is part of Universal’s Islands of Adventure; the entrance is a remake of the arch entering Hogsmeade, the magical village that Hogwarts School students visited during the school year. The famous train, Hogwarts Express, blows its whistle and billows smoke to give the guests an all-encompassing feeling at the park.
One of the rides, “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” was named by the Harry Potter book series herself, J.K. Rowling. It’s a high-tech ride and main attraction of the park that takes guests through scenes and rooms from the movies inside a richly detailed remake of Hogwarts Castle made to look 700 feet tall.
Several other rides included in the park are the “Dragon Challenge” high-speed roller coaster and the family roller coaster “Flight of the Hippogriff.”
Paul Daurio, producer of the park says, “Along those journeys they’re going to be swept up into the greatest parts of the movies and the books. We’ve pushed every technology available to us to give guests a theme park experience unlike any they’ve had before.”
Even the shops and restaurants are based on the book series…Honeydukes sells chocolate frogs and “Bertie Bott’s Every-Flavour Beans,” Ollivander’s peddles magic wands, Zonko’s joke shop has Sneakoscopes, and the British restaurant Three Broomsticks pours Butterbeer. Guests can also send letters to their friends and family from The Owl Post, sent with a certified Hogsmeade postmark!
Universal Creative President Mark Woodbury said, “The interesting thing about Harry Potter is that the stories are so rich in themselves, so deep. There wasn’t so much difficulty of creating the look, it was, ‘How do you execute at a level of authenticity that is unquestionable?’”
OMG!! We can’t wait for the park to open! Let’s go buy our tickets now!!
It‘s quiet in here! Why not leave a response?
