Tennis star Serena Williams was in the semi-finals at the US Open against Kim Clijsters last night when a supposed threat to a linesperson cost Serena the game.
Serena aggressively approached the linesperson after a foot fault at match point, unleashing a series of f-words. The linesperson felt threatened and issued a penalty point. That point happened to cause Serena the match, losing to Kim Clijster, (6-4, 7-5).
While watching the series of events unfold on television, Serena was arguing with officials and you heard her say, “I didn’t say I would kill you. Are you serious?”
According to eyewitnesses, the comments to the lineperson included, “You don’t know me. You better be right. I swear to God I’m fucking taking this ball and shoving it down your fucking throat…”
Serena has had her fair share of foot faults during this year’s US Open, which is a first in her history of professional tennis. I’m sure the call and the stress of the set was getting to her…
