Celebrity DJ and club owner, Adam Goldstein, better known as DJ AM, was found dead Friday, August 28, 2009, in his New York apartment.
In a statement by Adam’s rep, “Adam ‘DJ AM’ Goldstein was found deceased this afternoon in his New York City apartment. The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear. Out of respect for his family and loved ones, please respect their privacy at this time.”
The details are not clear, officials said they found no evidence of foul play. There have been reports of prescription-pill bottles and drug paraphernalia, including a crack pipe, in the apartment of DJ AM.
A neighbor of DJ AM told E! News, “I came home and there were police cars everywhere. My doorman told me someone died in 7A and I knew who it was. The whole front of the building is filled with police blocking if off with barricades. I know he has been here for the last week and a half, but I haven’t seen him.”
